MINUTES:
EAA 808 Regular Monthly Meeting Date: 5/9/07
The regular meeting of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 808 met at 7:00 PM after having supper at he Gooseberry Patch Restaurant. It was held at the EAA 808 building at the Fremont County Airport. There were 14 members present with no guests and no mail was received.
The meeting was called to order and last month's minutes were approved. No treasurer's report was presented but the profit from the Saturday Flyin was announced.
OLD BUSINESS: There was considerable discussion about the fly-in last Saturday. The classic car club members arrived early to drink lots of coffee. They and drive ins ate lots of pancakes, eggs and sausage. In fact, we almost ran out of food. The profit made on the flyin was $466.09. The untimely snow and competing flyin at Trinidad limited the number of planes arriving to four planes. People from the car club seemed to enjoy themselves and brought about 30 cars.
Having four coffee pots made it possible to assure there was always hot coffee ready. New equipment needed for the next flyin are: mixing bowls (large), pitchers, a wash tub for washing dishes, an electric fry pan or a roaster for warming tortillas, six large and 2 small storage boxes. Other topics discussed wee how well the small electric mixer worked and whether pancake production needs to be increased.
There were 3 advanced applications for YE flights in the near future.
The Daily Record ran a good front page article about the flyin.
And, finally, a discussion about pilots flying YE who are not current members of 808, but are members of National EAA.
In other business, annual membership dues are due June 1 at $15.00. Late dues after June 31 will cost $20.00, which is $5.00 extra.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Westcliffe EAA Chapter $1422 is having a hands on sheet metal demonstration & cookout at Steve Stefanic's hanger at Silver West Airport at 4 PM Saturday, May 12.
Jim Pinkerton displayed photos he took of the Fly-in with the Chapter's digital camera.
We will have a hamburger "fry-in" June 16 at 4 PM at Walt and Bev's hanger at the Fremont County Airport. Bring a side dish and table service. We will set up the Chapter's round tables but you will need to bring your chair. This will also be the June regular meeting so we will not have the regular meeting on Wednesday, June 13. Hamburgers are being furnished by the Chapter.
Grant Schemmel's niece has the opportunity to attend an expensive 2 week seminar at Yale University. Discussions about previous requests for Chapter donations have been made by the Civil Air Patrol that were rejected. It was concluded that we would like her to make a guest presentation about an aviation related topic at the June hamburger fry meeting, which could be a "pass the hat" fundraiser for her.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None. Motion to adjourn. msp
PROGRAM: the guest speaker from Steel City Aviation could not come because she had to take a plane to Kansas to be painted.
Submitted: Dale Boody, Sec.
